Hospital Juárez

A survival horror vertical slice inspired by Mexican folklore and the cult classic Illbleed.

Hospital Juárez stood for more than a century in Mexico City, a place meant to heal but remembered for neglect, corruption, and tragedy. Patients of every kind — rich and poor, young and old — suffered under mismanagement, falsified reports, and vanishing medicine. On April 27, 1998, the neonatal ward incident exposed the rot within, leading to the deaths of senior staff and the hospital’s closure.

This game draws inspiration from Illbleed (Dreamcast, 2001), a cult horror title known for its bizarre storytelling, theatrical presentation, and unique blend of survival mechanics. Like Illbleed, Hospital Juárez embraces the tone of a horror movie trailer brought to life — but here, the monsters are born from Mexico’s own folklore.

This release is a vertical slice, the first playable chapter of a larger vision. Future levels will explore the vast and terrifying landscape of Mexican horror folklore — from ghostly nurses and vengeful spirits to legends whispered across generations.

Step inside the abandoned hospital. Shadows linger. Footsteps echo. And somewhere in the dark, she waits.

About the installation and requirements

This is an Unreal Engine 5 development build. Sometimes Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may block it, because the zip file contains an executable that isn’t digitally certified.

To resolve this:

  1. Right‑click the downloaded zip file.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. In the first tab, at the bottom under Security, check the box labeled Unblock.
  4. Click Apply, then OK.

After that, you can safely extract the archive and run the executable inside the folder.

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and DirectX runtime are also required.
